When migrating to Linux from Windows, a common question is "Where can I get an application for Linux that is similar to XYZ program on Windows?" Fear not! Listed below are programs that could be considered roughly equivalent to certain popular Windows applications. Note that the Linux programs might not have all the features which can be found in Windows proprietary software, but unless you are an expert in some Windows program this should not be a major obstacle.

Linux is secure. Linux is stable. Linux offers diverse distributions focused upon whatever your main goal is in the use of a system.
Linux is a choice, an option when vendors want to reduce options and tie you into using ONLY what they offer. Linux is not as difficult as its painted to be. Yes, there are those who will experience problems. But there are remedies available. Despite being a heavy XP user, I insist that the majority of my machines run Linux. Like this one for example. Last weeks XP crash due to corrupted DLLs and a recovery are a thing of the past. After an hour repairing, I slipped PCLOS on it and was up and running in 30 minutes.
